SBean loves it when you make up stories.

Lately she has been on a kick of “tell me a story about the Broccoli and the Tomato”?? So, whatever has happened that day I always try to put into the story. A lesson if you will LOL. Sometimes the Broccoli and the Tomato aren’t getting along but learn to appreciate each other. Sometimes Broccoli has a new friend named Asparagus and Tomato is jealous of that new friendship until they all play together and realize that they can all be friends. Or perhaps Tomato has a new friend named Onion and she doesn’t smell the best… the story says it doesn’t matter what a person looks like or smells like as long as they are a good person. You see what I do there? So, the other day I heard SBean ask Ninja to tell her story. Ninja asked “what kind of story?” And SBean replied “a Cinderella story!”

About a half a minute later I heard Ninja start, “all right here’s a Cinderella story… The year was 2006 and by magic of a fairy godmother the last placed Edmonton Oilers made the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, but no one knew what kind of Cinderella story that was about to unfold…” LOL

Hey Papa look! I have sauce on my finger!

So, it was my birthday on Sunday. Not gonna lie my birthday is a tough one. It is the day shared by my Mom and I. Now, it is just me. No one can tell me the story of my birth. No one can tell me whether or not it was raining, sunny, or snowing… You never know in Winnipeg in April! LOL all the people that were there, are no longer here. On the girl’s birthday I always feel like I should get a present. LOL

I had a really great weekend though. Nice and relaxing. On Saturday morning we dropped the girls off at Ninja’s parents and then we were off! Our first stop was our favourite bakery in Peachland, Bliss. We had a nice brunch on the patio 🙂

Our next stop was the mall where I was given a GC for La Senza! I bought 7 pairs of new boy shorts 🙂 I love doing yoga in them.

Next was the Delta in Kelowna. Ninja arranged for each of us to have a 90 minute massage! At the end it felt like she had kicked my ass LOL in such a good way.

Next, he led me to our king-size suite!

The first thing he did was draw me a bath in our huge Jacuzzi tub! Next, he handed me my book! My man knows me LOL

After a leisurely bath and a long hot shower, we got ready and went to out for dinner. I have been wanting to go to RauDZ for a long time! I have heard wonderful things. Everything I heard was absolutely 100% correct! One of the things I complain about living here in paradise 😉 is the restaurants. Ninja and I like going out for dinner. We like good food. I enjoy good food even more if it doesn’t have a cloth tablecloth LOL

RauDZ was truly fabulous. It has always scared me because you cannot make reservations. So when we got there 20 minutes after it opened and the hostess told us it would be about an hour and a half wait, I was totally OK with it. Good things come to those who wait. Ninja and I pulled up a barstool and ordered a local beer and a Caesar. We watched the hockey game and sat and chatted. The bartender explained that their ingredients are all local. He is a mixologist and works hard on his drink recipes. The gin came from a local distillery and the rhubarb simple syrup was made from the spring rhubarb harvest. My next drink was called The Bronze Age: long table gin, noilly prat rouge, burnt pineapple, lime, orange bitters. It was like breakfast dessert in a cup! It was awesome!

We only had to wait about 40 minutes. When we got to our table we were greeted by our server. He was a career server. I love good service! I served for many years, in fact, it’s one of the only things I’m good at in life lol therefore, I appreciate good service. Ninja started off with a Caesar salad (of course)

and I started off with Asparagus in a Espelette Pepper Hollandaise Sauce topped with a fried egg! Anytime I hear asparagus and egg I get excited! They just pair so well together. It was creamy and rich and absolutely divine! The best part… The seasoning! It was seasoned perfectly and the salt just brought out all the amazing tastes.

By the time our dinners came we were already pretty full LOL I don’t know why appetizers are so big? They could’ve given me half the asparagus and I probably still would’ve been full!

For dinner I got the RBJ! It is a steak sandwich… Kinda LOL it is a grilled beef tenderloin on top of butter poached crab, shaved cured bacon, and onion jam in between a fresh made brioche bun! Served with a Mason jar of steakhouse mushrooms and a skewer of roasted potatoes with a side of duck fat mayonnaise!

Shut up!

Right?

Omg

Ninja had The Butcher’s Market Special, a grilled flat iron steak with seared sea scallops and roasted root vegetables.

They had a fabulous selection of local wines by the glass. I love getting a good quality wine by the glass. Then Ninja and I can try different ones that we normally wouldn’t. Ninja ended his meal with a nice Scotch and I had a specialty coffee, The RauDZ Coffee. For dessert we shared a Salted Chocolate Caramel Crunch and they surprised me with a mini cupcake!

They finished it off by giving us homemade strawberry lollipops!

Seriously, one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire life.

Of course I couldn’t finish it all and we brought it back to the hotel room and put it in the fridge. Where I am assuming it still sits today. I am still crazy upset about that!

When we got back to the hotel we went to the casino put in a $20 and won $100! We thought we should call it a night LOL

When we got back to our room there was an amazing surprise for us! 3 types of cheeses, strawberries, dried apricots and my favourite Cranberry Hazelnut Raincoast Crisps! PLUS a small bottle of Le Vieux Pin

The next day I woke up early but stayed in bed reading! Then we went to Denny’s for my free breakfast LOL did a bit of shopping and then met Dad and went to my in-laws for dinner! My MIL made me my favourite dinner! Homemade Chicken Parmesan with Asparagus and Caesar salad! For dessert my girls made me a Cherry Cheesecake!

Totally spoiled! I got gifts to?! I got lottery tickets, gift certificates to go shopping, I gift certificate for Starbucks, and a fitbit!

I am so excited to get started! While I was inputting my information it asked my weight. I don’t normally weigh myself but I could definitely guess. Just to make sure though I went into the bathroom and jumped on the scale. WTF? I am almost 10 pounds heavier than I thought I was! It is a good thing that I got this fitbit because I obviously don’t have a clue LOL

Birthdays do that to me. I’m 37 now. I want to be around for a long time so I’m going to up the healthy quotient in my life. 🙂

Well if the weekend was 48 hours of pampering… Monday reality kicked me in the head. HBear has a wicked cough. She is feeling OK but her cough sounds horrible. Her teacher asks parents not to send the kids when they have a bad cough. I’m kind of scared of her so I kept HBear home.

Sigh.

I had to go to Value Village though. They were having a 50% off sale on short-sleeved shirts. I need T-shirts! I also needed to go grocery shopping and go get water.

They were horrible. They were loud, could not get along, and whined for cookies from the bakery! I did not give in, their behaviour did not warrant tasty cookies!

Speaking of horrible, HBear NEVER puts her pyjamas away! It drives me nuts! I make her a chore chart and she does it all, except putting away her pyjamas. On Friday I was so fed up that I decided to do this,

So far she has put away her pyjamas every morning since. I told her if she did for a week she could have her jammies back. LOL

This morning a truck carrying a large load of wine tipped over on the corner of our street! The firefighters came and started hosing down the red wine. The streets were literally flooded in red wine!

So we dropped sticks in the rushing wine/water rivers and had races 🙂

Then we took a bike ride to the park. HBear’s cough sounded better today so she went to school. Who am I kidding? After the way those little assholes behaved yesterday, HBear could have been blowing chunks everywhere and I still would have taken her to school today! LOL

HBear made a drawing at school last week. Is she trying to tell me something?

HAHAHAHAHA!

A few weeks ago I made this amazingly easy casserole. It mixes 2 of my favourite things, chicken and Mexican! I am craving it today so I thought I would share it with you! It is a Gooder!

Easy Fajita Chicken Bake
Adapted from The Pinning Mama

2 teaspoons taco seasoning
2 bell peppers in assorted colors, deseeded and thinly sliced
1 red onion, peeled and thinly sliced
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup shredded Mexican cheese

Preheat oven to 375.

Lay the chicken breasts in a single layer in a greased glass baking dish.

Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the top of the chicken breasts.

Lay your thinly sliced onions and peppers on top of the chicken breast, spread out evenly over the top.

Drizzle the olive oil over the peppers and onions.

Sprinkle cheese over the top of the dish.

Bake for 35-45 minutes or until chicken is cooked though and the juices run clear.
