A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone.

Does everyone know what day it is?

That’s right! It is the third Thursday of the month and what does that mean? That means library books are due.

So I armed myself with snacks and even a lollipop that’s right folks I am resorting to lollipops to keep SBean from screaming the library down. Surprisingly enough it was HBear that was the problem this time?!?!? She kept on wanting to get books that were not appropriate for her with 1-2 words on a page. See, school needs to go back because she is regressing LOL.

Speaking of school the vote is today I’m hearing it will be a go ahead for Monday, a half day of school but it will be the 1st day of school! Now we have to live with the debate of whether or not this was a good deal.

I haven’t read it but the jist is out there… It’s not. A good deal I mean.

I know it, you know it, the government knows it, the teachers know it, everybody knows it. I think at this point the teachers just have to take what they can get so that there’s room for negotiation in the future and I think that’s what this deal is all about… the future of our education system. I haven’t lived here for long enough to know for sure but everybody that grew up here talks like this is just a normal thing that happens every year for the last 30 years. I think the big picture here is the fact that our government misrepresented themselves. They lied to the public, they bullied a union, they gloated over a “win”, and peoples civil liberties were taken advantage of and this is not okay! I believe that all of Canada should be looking at what happened here in BC and be scared. Scared that the government, especially this liberal Christie Clark government, can destroy contracts, hold children as hostages and blatantly lie to media and constituents. It is appalling that they are getting away with their goon antics! I think this just shows us what we need to do is get out and vote to make a difference for us and our children! Political rant done.

So anyways the library…

I picked SBean’s books out very quickly and I told HBear to do the same however she kept on picking up books so inappropriate for her so when I said something she got all huffy and refused to pick out any books. By that time SBean had started arching and freaking out and I want to get the heck out of there and HBear hadn’t really picked out any books but thank goodness I had picked out a few for her LOL. So we get up to the front and because I wasn’t sure if I would actually come today I dropped off all of our books in the drop box  yesterday, it was after hours so it was allowed LOL. So when I get up to the front of course the LADY says “oh Kristin I’m glad that you came in we need to talk about one of the books that you returned yesterday in the dropbox apparently there’s mold all over it.”

What mold????? I don’t think so!

“Yes there is mold and we are going to be charging you.”

Well I would like to see the book before you charge me!

“I don’t know… let me see if I can find it.”  She pulls out one of HBear’s joke books.  Clearly I can see that there’s mold all throughout the pages and the lady at the front desk says, “This wasn’t here before. You must’ve dumped it in the bath and then tried hiding it by dropping it off in the box.”

WTF? Seriously did you just say that to me? In front of all these people? Seriously?

Actually we don’t have a bath and I have always paid for any accidents, or should I say the 1 accident we had 2 1/2 years ago.  I would never try to hide if a books was damaged. Books are very important to our family and I teach my girls to respect them. I don’t understand what happened but of course I will pay for whatever damage may have happened. Goodbye

I don’t know how the mold got there but it did and I now have to pay for the book 🙁 and I had to spoken to like that.

Grrrrrrr

Then we went to MTF it’s an outlet store for like Costco and stuff. I need to pick up Fruit Loops the kids love their “poots” and they were on sale for $3.99 and I’m not above going to different stores for good deals like that, usually family size cost me like 7 bucks!

And while I was at it I could pick up my AAA batteries for all the kids toys that have seem to gone dead in the last week all at the same time. So the purchases all go through and the ladies like that’s $13 and I say thank that’s on debit… and I put the transaction through and then she goes “oh did you want these batteries too?” Yes that’s why they’re up there! “Well I didn’t put them through do you still want them?” Again, yes! Holy Smokers people!

Then we are off to Staples, my “favorite” place lol I don’t know why am doing this to myself today?!?! Last time I went into Staples with SBean freaking out and asked her to make some copies for me she told me I could go over and do it myself so I was really interested to see what she had to say to me today lol. Today she told me to come pick it up next week.

I think… It is 1 piece of paper. Put it in the laminating sleeve and TA DA.

“oh you want it today? Well that isn’t on sale.”

“Fine it will be $1.81”

“Not right now though I have 5 other things on my plate”

I repeat… It is 1 piece of paper. Put it in the laminating sleeve and TA DA!!!!

Of course I didn’t say that but she must have felt it because without another word she went and ran it through, 20 seconds, $1.81, DONE.

Then off to superstore to pick up some pictures to add to HBear’s summer journal with school starting on Monday we are I have to finish it up this weekend she wants to take it in for showing tell of course 🙂

I put the 15 pictures in this morning and I got the email already saying they are ready! Yay!

Spoke too soon lol We waited in the photo area for 28 minutes!!! Finally someone came in and said “oh I will find someone for you.”

Whaaaaaat. Breathe in, breathe out.

Another 12 minutes and the lady comes in. “Hi were you waiting long?” No sorry,  just that. I waited for 39 minutes with SBean rolling all over the floor and HBear opening and closing her umbrella singing “The sun will come out tomorrrrrrrrrrrrrow” over and over again, just give me my pictures please.

So apparently superstore is the new McDonald’s because When we got home and started woking on journal, I noticed 3 pictures missing!!! Always check the bag. OMG SERENITY NOW!!!!

When we got home we had lunch,

played,
Journalled,

Tonight we are staying with our 15-20 minute challenge and having loose meat sandwiches. LOL Remember when Rosanne and Jackie opened a loose meat sandwich restaurant? LOL I was all like what the hell is a loose meat sandwich?

Loose meat Sandwich = Sloppy Joes!

Same thing I said yesterday goes for today, the best way to prep for quick and easy dinners is that already have whatever you can have done… done.

Today we are going to be using chopped green onions and chopped celery if you could already have those items chopped and in your fridge ready to go that would help keep you on time. Perhaps you had a few minutes last night or perhaps you cut all your vegetables on Sunday for your weekly dinners, anything that you can do beforehand will help you in long-run I can’t stress this enough. I may not be big on 20 minute meals usually but when I plan for a full week of dinners at Christmas time with the whole family and by the time everybody gets in I usually have all of my vegetables cut and prepped in Tupperware or Ziploc bags labeled for which meal it is that goes for breakfast lunch and dinner’s so then I just have to make it all 🙂

Another trick that I use is after I get all my ingredients together, which is key btw, get all your ingredients out first, you don’t want to be racing around the kitchen, that takes up time, 6 seconds +6 seconds +6 seconds you get what I mean lol. So, after you get all your ingredients out take a look at the recipe if it says to add four things at once put them together in a measuring cup or in a bowl when you need them you can dump them in. Again seconds off of your time when you’re in a time crunch seconds count, they matter.

15 Minute Asian Sloppy Joes
Adapted from Taking on Magazines

½ cup celery, finely diced
½ cup green onions, thinly sliced (greens and whites divided about 3/4 cup of greens and 1/4 cup of whites)
2 tablespoons sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, pressed
2 tablespoons ginger, grated
1 1/2 lbs ground pork
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 8-ounce can sliced water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes in juice, drained
cup hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Salt to taste
4 Naan buns
Fresh cilantro sprigs

Sauté celery and green onion whites in oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until softened, 4-5 minutes.

Add garlic and ginger; cook 1 minute.

Add the ground pork, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce and brown sugar. Crush pork with a potato masher to a fine consistency; cook 5 minutes.

Stir in water chestnuts, tomatoes, and hoisin. Crush tomatoes with potato masher, reduce heat to medium and cook until thickened, 5 minutes.

Off heat, stir in scallion greens and lime juice; season with salt. Serve Sloppy Joes on Naan buns with cilantro sprigs.

This was pretty darn tasty! PLUS I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! The Naan bread was perfect and less calories than a normal hamburger bun 🙂

Tomorrow is the last of our quicky meals, I have to say it actually took MORE time because I had to write 5 posts this week!!! LOL But, each week I will try to do a quick meal. Give more options for working parents or people that want to eat well but don’t have “nap time” to prep lol.

See you tomorrow 🙂
