Sibling relationships – and 80 percent of Americans have at least one – outlast marriages, survive the death of parents, resurface after quarrels that would sink any friendship. They flourish in a thousand incarnations of closeness and distance, warmth, loyalty and distrust.

Guess who is sick again?

My girls! WTF?? Didn’t this horrible flu just run through our house??? HBear went to a sleepover on Saturday! She had a fantastic time! Yeah… that is their “backyard”! The girls are very lucky to have awesome playdates there!!!!

While she was gone, SBean started feeling unwell. I made eggs for dinner, because she likes them and HBear doesn’t. She said she wasn’t hungry but I insisted she have a bite of everything.

Yeeeaaaahhhh so she threw up all over the table/floor.

By the time HBear got home on Sunday she had a 40 degree fever and they were both DUNZO.

So this past week has been pretty quiet. It has left me with a little quiet time… to reflect.

Reflect on my girls and their idiocyncracies 🙂

SBean has 3 obsessive tendencies. 1: There’s a picture frame beside her bed she consistently tips to the left. As soon as I straighten it, she adjusts it back to the”right” spot. 2. As soon as the toilet paper gets down low, not empty just low, she takes it off and puts a new roll on. 3. She must have the Scentsy on, “poop spray” sprayed and the fan on when she goes to the bathroom… or she can’t go.

HBear… well lately everything seems to be obsessive behaviour lol. She is… particular about the way things are done or said. I have been trying to throw her off, with small things, just so she knows how to handle curve balls. She IS my daughter so I am sure there will be many in her life! LOL

SBean loves lunch picnics. She watches her favourite shows Paw Patrol, Tree Fu Tom, and Bow On the Go. (all of the theme songs went through my head as I typed each one!)

HBear came out of bed late the other night and said, “I have a funny joke to tell you. What is 0+0?”
So I said, “zero” and she said, “in other words a whole lot of nothing!”

And she laughed her ass off!

Apparently, her teacher said that in school that day. The next day she got out of school got into the van and told her “joke” again. She said, “that is my best joke!” I said, “well it really wasn’t your joke, it was your teachers.” She glared at me and said “yeah but I say it now so now it’s mine.”

She did something similar the other day, when she was getting out of the van a dime fell out. She picked it up and gave it to me. I said, “you found it Sweetie you can keep it.” She was very thankful so she wrote me a note telling me how thankful she was. She taped the dime on the back of the paper for me.

A few days later, by accident, she stepped on Ninja’s foot. She wrote him an apology note. She even offered to give him a massage LOL then she came racing up to the note that she had given me that is taped up on my nightstand. She ripped it down and ripped the dime off the note. She then takes the dime to Ninja’s note. I said, “hey that’s my dime!” And she said, “well actually Mommy you gave it to me so it’s my dime and now I’m taking it back.”

I totally missed the teaching opportunity in that because I was too busy laughing my ass off!

My Friday night while Ninja was at Fest of Ale
SBean has been stuck on 1 particular movie this year, The Lorax. Great movie but she has taken to saying ones out of it. My favourite is when she crosses her heart, holds up her hand and says “I Promise!”

She obviously doesn’t know what that means yet! LOL

HBear is into Project Runway. Any of them, Junior, All Stars, or the regular 1. She also likes Amazing Race, Spring Baking Championship and MasterChef Canada.

SBean’s favourite snacks are cheese strings, fruit gummies, marshmallows and any kind of melon or actually any kind of fruit.

Taking a break to watch my favourite… The Masters!

HBear has decided she would like to be an artist or a chef when she grows up. Of course SBean wants to be just like her big sister, an artist. I’m pretty sure they are never moving out.

SBean LOVES books! She can write her alphabet and she is getting pretty good at sounding out words. She is starting to “read” easy 3 letter words. We play whiteboard and she writes a letter, says a word that it starts with and then sounds out the word I write for the letter. She cannot WAIT for preschool!

HBear is loving the series the Magic Treehouse. She is reading 5 to 7 books a week! She loves the fact finders books that go with it and the computer game too. She was given a bag of books a while back and she found Sweet Valley Twins and The Babysitters Club! Those were my favourite!!! I went to the library and asked for more but apparently they don’t translate to kids now a days! What? That is super sucky!

These are the books I got 🙂

SBean’s favourite colours are pink and purple.

1 of HBear’s stuffies has the same name AND birthday as SBean! Weird!
HBear got a new bike! Her favourite colour is turquoise or blue and yellow LOL she is not a fan of riding her bike… Hopefully this year!

I give SBean 1 episode to eat her lunch. Sometimes 2 depending on what time it is. The other day she watched the entire Tree Fu Tom and only ate her cheese strings! So I took it away. She was totally freaked! She laid down for a nap and an hour and a half later I woke her up to go pick up HBear from school. The first thing I asked her was “do you have to go the bathroom?” She replied no.

I handed her a Ziplock bag with her sandwich, her marshmallows and her carrots from lunch. She happily sat in the van munching away while we waited for HBear to get out of school. As she was walking up the hill SBean was freaking out, “there she is! There she is!” HBear got into the van looked at SBean’s snacks and said “may I have a marshmallow?”

SBean said, “no. That is my option.”

I looked in the rearview mirror and said, “yes SBean it is your choice if you do not want to share your marshmallows. HBear, SBean does not want to share right now. When you have a snack next time it is your choice whether or not you want to share with her. Do you understand SBean?” She shook her head yes but still did not offer up mini marshmallow.

Quickly I change the subject. “How was your day HBear?”

“Fine.”

“Just fine? Did you have gym?”

Silence.

“I said, did you have gym today?”

“NO!”

“No need to yell, I was just asking a question. Did you have computer lab today?” I find asking specific questions helps her retell her day. If I just ask what did you do today I get a 1 word answer. Usually if I ask specific questions she will begin to remember and tell me everything 🙂

Silence.

“HBear! I am talking to you did you have computer lab today?”

She burst into loud wails and tears! Holy shit what just happened? “HBear! What’s wrong? And this better not be over that damn marshmallow!”

“No! It is about you! You are asking so many questions and I don’t have time to answer them and you were yelling at me!” WAIL!!!

Omg

“OK. Enough. Restart!” We drove in silence down the hill and all of a sudden I hear SBean say “do you want to marshmallow Rowyn?”

“OK”

“HBear, how was school today?”

“Great!! Thank you for asking.”

I saw the teen years flash before me.

We got home and HBear did her after school chores and got ready for a acro jazz. As we were leaving 20 minutes later I asked SBean, “do you have to go potty? “No.” Fantastic! As we have 4 minutes to get to acro jazz. As we are pulling out of the driveway, “I have to go PEE!”

“Beeeeeaaaaaan!”

I stopped the van halfway down the driveway quickly got her out, unlocked the door and as we got to the bathroom she cried “oh no! I had an accident in my pants!” Of course you did.

I quickly sat her down on the potty and noticed that her underwear were on backwards, they were also on inside out and there was a tiny drop of pee on them. “Sorry Sweetie not enough to change right now, are you all done? Let’s go!”

Best. Mom. Ever.

The other day I was singing There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly to SBean. She really enjoyed it so while we were at the library the other day I took out a book of the same name… Ninja was reading it to them the other night and HBear got upset. She hates the word die. She calls it the “D” word. So she said “Daddy don’t use that word, Can you use a different word?” So Ninja said, “OK we will use the word faint.”

He went on reading. The first time he said faint SBean smacked the book and yelled, “DIE!” Ninja explained the situation to her again but throughout the entire book every time he said faint she looked right at HBear and screamed “DIE!”

Yup. That about sums them up.

😉

I am ALWAYS looking for chicken recipes. We like chicken. We like pasta. It is a winning combo 🙂 We tried a new recipe the other day. It was YUM! We licked our plates clean! The original recipe called it a casserole and put everything into a casserole dish after sautéing. I like to use as few dishes as I can though, so I changed it!

Enjoy!
