This week was… interesting. To give you a little insight to my week let’s look at just 1 day. It’s something I like to call… A day in the life of a SAHM.
Monday
6:50am Ninja walks in and says, “time to get up.”
7:05 leave bedroom dressed and somewhat ready for the day.
7:10 start loading the van with auction prizes. The Preschool auction ended the night before and winners had the choice to pick up at the school, from my BrownieBesty, or from my place.
7:30 get the kids ready for school. SBean has her usual (of late) meltdown that she HAS to wear a dress. “But Mooommmmmmyyyyyy I’m only pretty if I wear a dress!” She wails. I don’t know where this came from but I am seriously thinking about throwing every dress out and showing her how pretty she is in WHATEVER she wears!
7:45 make lunches.
8:00 drop off the prizes for preschool and for after school drop off PLUS I drop off SBean for BBesty to take her to school.
8:25 go home and quickly grab prizes for after school delivery.
8:45 get to the Gifted school for their end of the year field trip. HBear was so excited and I can’t lie… I was too! This year the Gifted theme was Artkidtecture 😉. They learned all about unique structures all over the world. The field trip was designed to show the kids 3 different amazing architectural designs right here in our own backyard.
9:00 split into groups and get field trip info.
9:20 get to the Okanagan College.
9:25 tour the tiny house. The school has built the 1st tiny home in our city. They are hoping to start selling them but as of right now, our city is not zoned for them. It is so much red tape.
9:45 tour the multi purpose room. I was BLOWN away by this entire building! All the wood is BC wood that has been taken down because of the pine beetle.
10:00 view the building. Recycled rubber floor, smart boards, all led lights turn on only when people walk by. The building has a Wind chimney to help cool it and Solar tubes light up rooms from the ceilings. The Gym has heating and cooling tubes in walls and all the rest of the building has the tubes in the floors. Solar panels help keep the building warm and are used for electricity.
10:30 end tour and have snack. As soon as I got to the picnic table I put my bag down… apparently in a big pile of duck poop 💩. It spread all over my hand and my sweater. Perfect. It was SUPER awesome because the geothermal water system uses untreated water from the geothermal system that has high mineral content and stains the toilets. It also trickles out of the faucets so removing the poop was difficult and I just had to accept the fact that it was going to be in the small creases of my friend and cold hands… for a while.
10:40 leave for our next destination. I almost missed the bus because I was in the bathroom washing off duck shit.
12:00 The kids got to look at the 3D computer. This was a major highlight for the kids 😂.
The school is built on the West side on the Reserve. It over looks both lakes and our city. It was amazing to stand on the grounds… on top of the world! They also have a large fire pit for their ceremonies and for the community to gather around.
1:50 went to Snxastwilxtn Centre which means, A Place to Heal. Across the street from the school is a wellness centre for their community. It has Drs, councillors, dentists, early learning and teaching areas. It is stunning. Out back over looking the valley is a gorgeous art installation that represents the Survivors of the Rez Schools. Survivors placed their rocks in the water in a ceremony and Elders and anyone that wants to can come sit out there and reflect. It was nice.
2:30 get back to the school. Quickly get in the van and get moving!
2:45 PM go to HBear’s school and drop off auction prizes to generous folks who donated to our preschool auction. Pick up ReadingBesty.
2:55 PM fly to SBean’s PSBesty’s house and pick up SBean!
3:07 quickly run inside collect the 3 prizes and run them out to the van. As I am handing those over I see another car pull up. Another prize winner! Quickly run in the house and get her prizes as well.
3:12 get the kids out of the van.
3:25 3 snacks for 3 kids. Get the kids set up at the table for reading and start unpacking lunch bags.
3:35 fold the load of laundry in the dryer still from last night.
3:40 start another load.
3:50 empty all the garbages and recycling and get the bins out.
4:00 start making dinner.
4:20 start to take RBesty home but realize his Uncle just pulled up, he’s one of our employees, so hand off that responsibility and go back into the house to finish making dinner.
5:00 unload all my many many many many pictures from this week.
5:15 finish getting all the prizes ready for delivery the next day.
5:30 dinner! We had Chicken Caesar Salads and Ninja help get it ready! 3 cheers for a fabulous partner 🍻.
6:00 Bathtime!
6:30 date night with my Sis. Every Monday night we FaceTime each other to catch up on our week. I look forward to date night all week 💛.
8:00 realize I still need 1000 steps to hit my goal! WTF? I think something is wrong with my Fitbit because there’s no way! Turn on Big Brother and get stepping!
9:00 prepare for my school board meeting tomorrow.
9:45 make my menu and grocery list for tomorrow.
10:30 yoga.
11:00 brush my teeth and get ready for bed.
11:15 start to write my blog…
11:35 zzzzzzzzzzz
Crunch Wrap Supreme
1.5 lb. ground beef
1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1
1 teaspoon cumin
8 small flour tortillas
1/2 cup Nacho Cheese Sauce
8 tostada shells
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup lettuce, shredded
2 Roma tomatoes, chopped
1 cup Nacho cheese, shredded
vegetable oil
enchilada sauce, for serving
In a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef, chili powder, paprika and cumin. Cook, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon, until the beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Drain fat, then season with salt and pepper.
Build crunchwraps: With large flour tortillas, add a scoop of ground beef to the center of each tortilla, leaving a generous amount of space around the edges for folding.
Place the smaller flour tortillas in the center of each crunchwrap then tightly fold the edges of the large tortilla towards the center, creating pleats. After wrapping, quickly invert crunchwraps so the pleats are on the bottom and they stay together. (I tried to get away with using the medium tortillas that were in my cupboard… WRONG!)
Cook crunchwraps: In a medium nonstick pan over medium heat, heat a very thin layer of vegetable oil. Working one at a time, add crunchwrap seam-side down and cook until tortilla is golden on the bottom, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip crunchwrap and cook until the other side is golden, 3 to 5 minutes more.
Repeat with remaining crunchwraps and serve warm with enchilada sauce.
This week was the preschool auction I put on. It was a ton of work but we raised over $1100! I can finally get into my craft space again and have begun cleaning up everything I’ve just been piling up while the prizes have been taking up all the room.
I took the Girls to the park the other day after school just to enjoy the sunshine. Listening to them play together is the best thing in the entire world 💛!
On Friday HBear won student of the week! We all went out for dinner for my FIL’s 72nd birthday! Then we went over to their place for cake, coffee and presents 🎁.
That evening HBear had swimming. Right after swimming we got ready and went to the Kiwanis’s Dance Festival Highlight Show! It was amazing!
On our way home we stopped and did a little geocaching.
As for our step challenge… it is doing so well! We have more people than allowed in our challenge now! It is so exciting to have a group that is so encouraging and motivating cheering and challenging you throughout the week. I am very very lucky.
