When everything is wrong I’ll come talk to you You make things alright when I’m feeling blue – Weezer

My best friend Dana lives in Selkirk, MB. It is her birthday on March 4th, Monday. Her first born, Brooke was born on March 3, 2008. When Brooke was born she was only about 3 lbs. She was so tiny it was scary to hold her. She had to stay in the hospital a few days but now she is healthy and strong J
I remember visiting Dana in the hospital on her birthday. She was scared for her daughter, a wreck with no sleep, bruised from the c-section and she had thrown the Jeanie cake her Ommie bought her on the spare bed.
When I found out I was pregnant she was the first person I called… “anything you can do I can do better” lol

We have been besties since the 1st day of kindergarten. We met during show and tell. We wanted to play hot potato instead… we got to talking while serving our time in the corner. We were inseparable after that. We have had hard times and separations. We have lived together, traveled together and partied together. We have laughed A LOT and cried just as much. We were each other’s Maid of Honor and we always assumed our kids would be bffs too.

We moved when HoneyBear was just 9 months old but we have been back a few times and they have been out here too. It is a shame that we don’t live closer because they really do get along well. HoneyBear can’t wait for their next sleepover and talks about Brooke all the time.
For Brooke’s birthday HoneyBear made her a PenPal set. We took stock paper and punched holes. She “knitted” the pieces together. Then we beaded, stickered and signed it. We went to the Dollar Store and bought an address book and we put our address in it. We bought pretty paper and envelopes, a pencil, stamps and of course Dora stickers!
The art of writing a letter is an important thing that their generation is sadly missing out on. I had penpals, but now everything is by text or email L I hope the girls will send many meaningful letters to each other and they can be PenPal BFF’s!

Punched out and ready to be “knitted”
To make it easier I taped the ends
