Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, “Never take candy from strangers.” And then they dressed me up and said, “Go beg for it.” I didn’t know what to do! I’d knock on people’s doors and go, “Trick or treat.” “No thank you.”
First things first…
Halloween was super fantastic! Besides the fact that I came down with a doozy of a cold on Friday, it was super good!
We started celebrating early with a party at the library,
This was an eyeopener for me. HBear was so excited to dress up for this year’s library Halloween party. Last year she didn’t and this year she was prepared! She dressed up in her favorite play outfit, as a waitress 🙂
When we got there she and 1 other little boy were the only ones dressed up! OMG FREAK OUT! She ripped off her entire costume in 2.4 seconds! I was shocked! I tried to talk to her about it but she just kept pulling away.
A few minutes later my BCBesty got there with her little one all dressed up as a peacock! Well, that changed everything. HBear had her costume back on in no time and the smile was back and big hugs to me and off she went.
I will revisit this on another occasion because this is really bothering me 🙁
HBear also had her Sparks party,
DRINK for Elsa! |
HBear used last year’s pirate costume and saved the big reveal for ACTUAL Halloween… her words not mine 🙂
For ACTUAL Halloween lol the HBear dressed up as a witch
and SBean was her little black cat 🙂
I made SBean’s tutu using 2 rolls of tulle and some ribbon and elastic 🙂
Tutu
Measure your tulle. Know that you will be folding it in half so measure from the hip to where you want it to end and double it 🙂 Then just cut strips. *Another easy way to do this is measure out a cardboard piece the length you want and wrap the spool of tulle around it and keep it in place using 2 elastic bands. Snip at both sides and done!
Next take your elastic, I always use a pair of pants that fit nicely and make my elastic the same size (not stretched). I tie/safety pin it around something wide to make it easier.
Now here’s where it is hard to describe… Fold your piece in half…
and place under the elastic.
Pull the ends through the loop and tighten… got it?
TA DA! A TUTU!!
I was… Spider Mom! I used the web template from Martha Stewart and made the glasses and TA DA Spider Mom!
Of course we didn’t actually get 1 picture of me ON Halloween… this was a silly selfie I sent my Sis a few days back 🙂 |
Friday was our PAC’s first hot lunch. Last year it was me and the HLCrew… this year we had like 9 helpers!!!!! Holy Snickers! It was great 🙂 We were so effcient that we all got to go into the gym and watch the Halloween parade 🙂
HBear the Serious Witch |
SBean’s 1st kiss lol she was the Cat’s Meow! |
We tried to get a good one of HBear as they paraded by but she was VERY self conscience and kept her head down the whole time 🙁 Again this has come up a few times and warrants a full post for sure!
Ninja made the girls ghostly pizzas for dinner,
Where’s Pac Man? LOL |
And I made the girls BIG treat bags for dessert!!! LOL
The other day we had a yummy and super easy pasta bake. It takes about 45 minutes but this would be a great freezer casserole. Then you can pop it into the oven and have dinner on the table in 30 minutes 🙂
Chili Pasta Bake
Adapted from Mrs. Schwartz’s Kitchen
Drizzle the oil in a large skillet on medium high heat. Add the onions and sauté for about 3 minutes.
Add the ground pork and season with salt and pepper. Cook until no longer pink.
Pour the chili pasta mixture into a Pam’d dish. Flatten out with a spatula and sprinkle with cheese.
Place in the oven for 30 minutes or until the edges are bubbling and the cheese has fully melted.
Top with sour cream and green onions.
Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween from our family to yours!
