Honey Garlic Meatballs, Easter & 38!

I’m a very ritualistic, routine-oriented person, and I discovered over the years that I love working Monday through Friday.

Edie Falco

Was it a full moon this week? Seriously… my kids be crazy.

Mondays.

I like Mondays because I know what happens on Mondays. I go grocery shopping, I have to take out the recycling and the garbage, the girls go to school, swimming.

Mondays.

This Monday I took the girls to school and of course it’s still raining, then I headed over to Sport Chek to pick out some new runners. I have worn mine for 4 years and I absolutely love them but they are starting to smell πŸ˜‚. So, I was looking at runners and trying a few on but I’m pretty picky when it comes to runners that’s why I never change them. Right now I have Reeboks. I fell in love with a pair of Under Armour trainers. Of course there was only one 7 1/2 and it was missing the right shoe. The poor salesgirl searched the entire store and back stock room. I think she went through every box trying to find the matching shoe but couldn’t. Finally she let me try on another more expensive pair of Under Armour that she thought I might like. I did! So she gave me the higher-priced ones for the same price as the sale ones that I liked originally. Finally I take them up to the front and holy crap we went to the movie to the concert last week and I used an actual purse so of course my wallet was in my purse not my backpack! So, I had to drive all the way home and then all the way back to pay for them πŸ™„.

Next I went grocery shopping and half the store was empty they must’ve sold out on all of their produce the day before PLUS when I got up to the self checkouts there was a line. I had over 25 items anyways but I usually do, I’m just really quick so I don’t think anybody minds. Actually, I just don’t care if they mind. But I knew this time I would get glares so I went to an actual till. The woman in front of me was at $250.47. The lady offered her a PC credit card because she would get 25,000 points because she spent $250. After she was halfway through signing up for a new credit card she realized that my frozen pie shells were on her bill and once they took them off she was at $247. Now she didn’t qualify for the credit card that she just applied for 😐.

She looked at me and said, “hand me a pack of gum.” So I handed her a pack of gum. $248 and change. She’s like, “hand me another one.” Of course I picked if you buy 2 it’s only $2.00 so it actually got her to $249.89 and she still didn’t qualify 😐. So, we took both the packs of gum off and put 2 different packs of freaking gum on her bill to get back to $250!!! By the time I made it to SBean’s preschool there was zero parking and I had to drive around and around.

On Tuesday HBear and I were cuddling and I was playing her hair. I noticed she had all these baby bangs? I started looking, I mean, really looking. I asked, “HBear did you cut your hair?” Immediately she said, “yes.” 😳

Right after I told that her hair needs to be in a right low bun for competition coming up the end of May. 😳

SBean was like a mini Donald Trump this week. She was a petulant 4-year-old who was loud, demanding, and I swear she thinks she is the Queen of the house. The best is when she came up to me and said, “I just love you Mommy. I love you because you are so chubby and squishy. I love Daddy too because he is furry.” πŸ˜³πŸ™Š

When I went to do laundry this week I heard the LOUDEST banging and the washer was like moving! I opened it up and found SBean’s huge rock (she named him Moustache) in her sweater pocket!

Wednesday.

On Tuesday night at midnight I was visualizing my next day as I always do and I was like OK I have to drop HBear off at school and then SBean. Then, I have to haul ass to the pool to meet HBear and the rest of her class for swimming lessons. Oh and I volunteered to take SBean’s preschool class to the library. Oh and I totally made plans with SBesty for breakfast! Omg… Thursday is also ProD day and Friday is Good Friday so there was hot lunch too! Shit! So I had to cancel breakfast and HLBesty handled hot lunch so I just had the 2 field trips. After school HBear still had swim practice so I took her to the pool. I’m in the balcony running when I remembered that I had to change her dental appointment so I called the dentist and explained the Girls have a cleaning set for the first week of May but I just received a phone call from the oral surgeon who is pulling HBear’s 4 baby teeth and they made the appointment for the same day. So we changed it to the following week. The moment I hung up I saw HBear come flying out of the pool holding her mouth. I quickly ran down the stairs to see what was wrong. She broke her only goddamn adult tooth right in half!! 😳

Thursday morning I was at the dentist with HBear is soon as I dropped SBean off at preschool.

On Friday Ninja and I had our podcast. It was a rough one. I was off πŸ™. I actually didn’t post last week’s episode so here it is… if you interested in listening to all these written stories with commentary from Ninja.

HERE
When I was a kid I hated meatballs. Now that I make them… I love them! These are SBEan’s favourite meatballs! When My Sis and family were here over Spring Break, I made these and everyone LOVED them! They are quick to make and I like to make them ahead of time so all I have to do is pop them in the over and relax. This is a winner every time!

Honey Garlic Meatballs
Adapted from Nurse Loves Farmer

1.5 lbs ground beef
1 cup quick-rolled oats
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons garlic powder
4 garlic cloves, pressed
1 cup ketchup
2/3 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce

Preheat your oven to 375.

Mix your ground beef, oats, eggs, milk and garlic powder together.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place meatballs on it and cook for about 30-35 minutes or until no longer pink in the middle.

Place all the sauce ingredients: garlic cloves, ketchup, honey and soy sauceβ€”in a large sauce pan and heat through. Add meatballs to sauce, toss and serve!

HBear and my HLBesty’s son are working together on reading. HBear is a great reader and she loves sharing her passion with her friends. 1 week they will read together and the next week they will have a playdate and sell Girl Guide cookies. I loved listening to them read and giggle together. It was pretty cool.

HBear started school swimming lessons. They had to do a lap to be put into 1 of 3 groups. Beginner, intermediate, or advanced. She swims 2-3 times a week and competes so obviously she should be put into the top group… right? Nope. She didn’t wear her goggles, because nobody else did and she stood up 4 times wile doing her lap???? WTF? She was put into the middle group with her friends. Hmmmmmm πŸ€”.

After swimming I quickly ran to the library for SBean’s Preschool visit.

On Thursday after the emergency dentist appointment, I watched SBeaty’s kids while she had an appointment. HBear and her SBesty loved spending time together and SBean was so excited to see GBesty after school! They hit every puddle on the way to the van πŸ˜‚.

This isn’t a great picture but SBesty came over after and gave me a hilarious card and a Starbucks GC for my upcoming birthday 😊.

On Good Friday HBear went to her G2Besty’s birthday party. She had a FABULOUS time! They had so many wonderful activities planned πŸ˜Š.

While HBear was “sleeping” at the party… SBean and I got a little cuddling in. It doesn’t happen that we get to snuggle, just the 2 of us, very often and I took FULL advantage of it.

This week a new contender in our FitBit Challenge  stepped up to take me down. We were neck in neck the whole week. 1 time I woke up and she had jumped 6000 steps ahead of me! I wrote “When did that happen? #whileIwassleeping” and she wrote back “#Dontsleepifyouwanttowin”! πŸ˜‚ Well, them’s fighting words and I ended up taking home the gold… but it was a close one.

Sunday was Easter!

After the Easter Bunny came we got dressed and went Geocaching! We found 5 caches and Papa joined us too! It was a nice sunny day with no rain!!

After Geocaching we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa’s for a DELICIOUS Easter dinner!!! I’m still full!!

Easter Monday was also my 38th birthday. I woke up with a killer headache and massive craps (I meant cramps but either way… it sucks lol). Apparently SBesty’s card jinxed me πŸ˜‚. Ninja and Dad were working so I met my InLaws at LocoLanding for the annual Easter Egg Hunt! First we stopped at Starbucks for my birthday drink! As soon as we got to the Hunt we were about to take a selfie when this young family asked us if we would like them to take a picture! Super nice but…

Tonight my family spoiled me with cherry cheesecake that SBean and Ninja made and a TON of amazing gifts. I am a very lucky Mommy πŸ’›.

Ninja gave me a new microphone with a special engraved plaque. Super sweet πŸ’›.

My Sis and Family made me a BEAUTIFUL card and got MBesty to make me a new yoga shirt!!!

MBesty made me a wonderful bag!! Check out her business page Beyond the Stitch!!

Dad bought me a new pan (and my new runners)!!!!

And the Girl’s got me my favourite treats, decorated the house and made me beautiful cards!

My Inlaws bought me a new set of mixing bowls and a GC for the Bay… swimsuit shopping here I come!!!

Thank you all for the calls, gifts, messages and wishes. I truly feel the love πŸ’•.
