And next year’s words await another voice.

2018!

That’s crazy!! I remember when that number was so far off it seemed almost impossible. Now it’s here 😳.

I barely remember 2017. It flew by! Thank goodness I have a blog so I can go back and see all the highlights of my year 😊.

In January I went to Cochrane for 11 days all by myself! It was the first time I left my family, especially SBean, for that long! It was totally worth it as I got to spend some quality time with my Niece, SweetPea and welcome my beautiful Niece, CabbagePatch into the world and our family 💛. This was also the month that Ninja and I started our podcast How Was Your Week, Honey? Every week we set aside a night to sit and chat with each other about our week. We have a few drinks and enjoy each other’s company… all while recording it 😂😂.

Ninja and I spent Valentine’s Day with friends in Las Vegas!!!! We saw Beatles LOVE, ate dinner in front of the Bellagio Fountains, enjoyed a tour of the shark reef, went to The Laugh Factory, went shopping, climbed the Eiffel Tower, saw Zumanity, had a spa day, brunched at Mon Ami Gabi, and enjoy a DELICIOUS dinner at Gordon Ramsey Steak!!! It was a fabulous 3 days ❤️.

In March HBear had a rough month but we made it through it! We also celebrated MBesty’s birthday and I ditched my funk and started being the Boss of 2017.
Sis and her family came out for spring break and we attempted to smoke a SwineApple 😂. My SIL and JQ also visited for Spring Break and the kids went to day camps together and we enjoyed lots of family time.

I turned 38 in April! It was a nice quiet birthday. We also celebrated Easter with chocolate and geocaching! Ninja and I went to Weezer, our first concert in a LONG time and I volunteered to chaperone a Brownie sleepover at the Church 😳. We also took the Girls to the driving range and had our first family golfing experience! I am so happy to share something that Ninja and I love so much with our Girls!

May was difficult for me. It always is. All the dates haunt me. The day Mom went into the hospital. The day Mom got her scan back. Mother’s Day. It’s all hard. This year was… easier. May was also the month we dealt with massive flooding. Our beaches were swept away and so many people worked so hard to protect properties and our green spaces. Our tourism took a heavy hit but the community really came together and reminded me of how lucky we are to live here 💛. May was also the month I was lucky enough to tag along on HBear’s Gifted architecture field trip! So fun and… enlightening on so many levels 😉. We also went on a 40km bike ride with my FIL and enjoyed rides at the carnival 🎡.

June. So many memories were made in this month. For Mom’s 4th Anniversary we painted rocks with inspirational sayings and pictures and placed them all over town. We hoped to put smiles on people’s faces as they walked through their busy lives 😊. I got a lot of great feedback so I think Mom would have loved how we honoured her this year 💛. HBear got 4 teeth pulled and her broken tooth fixed, SBean finished Preschool and HBear passed grade 3! We did the Colour Run and went to a Full Moon Party with some amazing friends! We also finished up activities with dance recitals, Locolanding field trips, and Summer camp registrations 😂.

July was a month of family and summer camps! HBear was in golfing, science, rock climbing, tennis and sailing while SBean was in skating, dance and gymnastics. We had tons of visitors in July! My BIL and oldest Niece brought their boat and we celebrated Sweetpea’s 4th birthday at the beach with everyone! We celebrated Canada Day and my SIL’s 40th on a 10 stop wine tour 😳🍷. We also went cherry picking, geocaching and celebrated Ninja’s birthday with ridiculous milkshakes at the beach. July was also the month that Ninja and I saw The Offspring, Bob Dylan and Sublime!

The month of August was absolutely insane! Dad, Ninja, the Girls and I drove across 4 provinces to Winnipeg! There, we met the newest addition to our family, PrettyPenny! My Bro and SSIL welcomed her in June and we were SO excited to meet her!!! We got a quality visit in with WpgBesty, spent a night at my SSIL’s family cabin, and saw my Grandpa 💛. My Sis and her family met us there and so did my in-laws! It was such a wonderful experience and I really don’t have the words to express how much fun I had. We were lucky enough to have another family visit from my Sis at the end of August and we watched the solar eclipse! Plus Ninja and I celebrated 7 years of wedded bliss 🥂.

September saw my Babies go off to Kindergarten and Grade 4!! It also saw the end of one of our worst forest fire years in history. The kids started back up in activities swimming and dancing PLUS I started an adult dance class 😳. I also went on a fabulous wine tour with some amazing women!

In October we climbed Giants Head Mountain! We had field trips, lost Gord Downey from The Tragically Hip, had Ladies night and SBean started skating lessons. We also celebrated Dad’s birthday and Thanksgiving. We hiked waterfalls and HBear started coding camp. SBean dressed up as a Royal Princess for Halloween, HBear was a Evil Magician and I was the Cat in the Hat with YBesty and LBesty as my Thing 1 and Thing 2 😂.

In November our business suffered a loss when our trusty truck Sparky was in an accident and was written off. Thankfully no one was hurt too badly 💛. We also had one of the earliest snowfalls our town has seen in many years. The Girls performed at the Remembrance Day service, I had my Vendor Fair and we took in the annual Christmas craft show. To end the month we celebrated SBean’s 5th birthday with gymnastics and ice cream cake!

We started December with HBear’s 9th birthday. She had a pottery party! We also enjoyed Christmas carolling, sledding the school Christmas concert, the Toys for Tots Breakfast, a surprise visit from Sis and the Girls and the Pancake Breakfast! To top it all off we had an amazing Christmas, record snowfalls and a visit from SIL and JQ 💛.

2017 was a great year. I honestly had NO idea how many pictures there were of… me! I made so many new friends, became closer with old friends and grew apart from some too. I got over my fear of leaving the house and became more social. I began running and giving ‘er during step challenges and hit my goal weight! I started a podcast with my husband that has quickly become my favourite night of the week and it has also expanded my social network more than I could have ever imagined. I started my own business and am slowly building my client base. I saw my old stomping grounds and saw my Grandpa for what may be the last time. I welcomed 2 new family members and spent quality time with my family and friends, learning and growing.

Thank you 2017!

2 weeks ago we had my Sis on How Was Your Week, Honey? and it was hilarious! This past week Ninja and I put out our Christmas episode and maybe it was the Pomegranate Gin Fizz but I think it is our BEST episode yet!

This week I don’t have a new recipe but I DO have my Top 10 Posts of 2017! Some of them were popular because of the recipe, some because of the topic I discussed and some because my Sis wrote it 😂. Here they are… enjoy!

This week we have been enjoying our new Christmas presents, spending time with family and shovelling snow. LOTS and LOTS of snow!

MBesty and her family came over for dinner and to exchange Christmas presents 😊.

Ninja and his Sis took the kids sledding!

HBear insisted on going with Ninja and Dad to do a few snow clearing calls. A little child labour never hurt anyone 😉.

We split up and did the movies! The little kids went to see Ferdinand and the big kids 😉 saw The Greatest Showman!

On New Year’s Eve we began the day with a family swim! SIL and JQ joined us and we happily ran into YBesty and her family!

After a little swim we went home and did manis and had a drink. We had a Pomegranate Gin Fizz! My New favourite festive drink! You can find the recipe on 1 of my favourite Vlogs, Halos and Heathens, check it out HERE.

We got all fancied up and went out for dinner to Earls! After dinner we rang in a early New Year at Grandma and Grandpas.

Thank you to all my readers! Thank you to my Kids for doing hilarious things and always giving me something to write about! Thanks to Ninja for being my best friend and partner. Thanks to my family for giving mw so much of your time this year! Thank you to my friends for pushing me to find myself and to be happy with the person that I find.

I look forward to 2018 and can’t wait to explore more, try harder, listen better and continue to push myself out of my comfort zone so I can experience all that this amazing world has to offer ❤️. I wish you and yours the very best in 2018, may you have a wonderful year surrounded by love, family and friendship!
